CASI Osoyoos Working Group
June 4, 2010
A working group of Osoyoos residents has come together to guide the project. They have compiled a survey designed to gather information about the needs of seniors. The working group members will be distributing the survey to Osoyoos seniors and caregivers over the next week and require the input of as many seniors as possible.
The survey data will be used to identify and prioritize what is needed to help seniors live comfortably in their homes longer. The group will then design a "made-in-Osoyoos" solution for helping seniors that will be rolled out this fall.

CASI: Community Action for Seniors' Independence
May 31, 2010 For Immediate Release
Osoyoos is one of five pilot communities in BC selected to participate in CASI (Community Action for Seniors' Independence). Through CASI, the Osoyoos Seniors Centre Association (OSCA) is working with the United Way to help support Osoyoos seniors live as long as possible in their homes.
"I can't stress how important input from seniors and their families is at this point," explained working group member and town councilor Michael Ryan. "CASI is a wonderful opportunity for Osoyoos seniors and we need to take advantage of it in a way that best suits Osoyoos."
Surveys are being distributed today to all residential households in Osoyoos. A copy of the survey is also in this newspaper.
The Osoyoos Seniors Centre Association will open its doors from 10am to noon weekdays from June 3-9 for seniors and their caregivers who wish to pick up or drop off a survey.
Project Coordinator Esther Kubryn will be available to answer your questions or collect your completed form at:
Shopper's Drug Mart, Thursday, June 3rd, between 11:30 and 2:30
Yore Video Store, Friday, June 4th between 11:30 and 2:30
Surveys must be competed by June 9.
CASI is funded by United Way and the Seniors Healthy Living Secretariat, Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport.
For more information contact Esther Kubryn by phone at 250-689-0759 or by email at casi.osoyoos@gmail.com.
