Transit Assistance Program

In partnership with the Regional District and the City of Kelowna, the United Way distributes bus tickets to meet the needs of individuals needing access to essential services. In 2009, the United Way distributed 8400 transit tickets to front-line non-profit organizations who in turn made them available to their clients for medical appointments, job interviews, education and training and important services.

"The clients from the Alexandra Gardner Safe Centre are grateful for the bus tickets provided by United Way because it allows them to attend important medical appointments and meet with other service providers in the community. These bus tickets allow them to maintain their health and their well-being. Thank you!" -Megan Tompkins, caseworker
