What is Success By 6®?

Success By 6® is a United Way initiative that is going upstream to plan preventative health and development programs for children 6 years of age or less. The initiative focuses on getting at the root cause of why 25% of children in our community are not ready for school by the time they enter Kindergarten.

What is the Sandbox Development Group?

 

The Sandbox Development Group is a group of non-profit agencies who are working with Success By 6® to collaborate on enhancing the highly desirable family resource programs provided in seven neighborhoods from Lake Country south to Peachland.

 

As of April 2010 there has been an increase in the number of days existing programs are running and in other places new programs are being created in neighborhoods where none existed previously.

 

The Sandbox Developers are Kelowna Child Care Society, Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs, The Bridge Youth & Family Services, and Westbank First Nations -Community Services.

 

This program enhancement known as the "Sandbox Project" is made possible with financial support of FRED, the Funding of Really Early Development table. FRED is a group of investors from local foundations, business and government who are jointly investing in high impact projects aimed at helping children get a good start in life.

Our Roots

Success By 6® is an early childhood development initiative supported by United Ways, Credit Unions of BC and the BC Government. Success By 6® is dedicated to building capacity of parents and communities to provide the foundation that children age 6 years or less need. This foundation includes emotional, social, cognitive and physical skills. The key to Success By 6® is that it is community led, community driven. Success By 6® has assembled a local Council of Partners to plan, strategize, and manage support and opportunities for young children and their families.

Together these community members are building a healthy community for our youngest citizens -because every child deserves to be a success by 6.
