Workplace Campaigns
Nearly 100 workplace campaigns in the Central & South Okanagan/Similkameen support United Way each year. In 2009, funds raised by workplace campaigns represented approximately 60% of the $1.3 million raised for our communities. Partnering with United Way, organizations give their employees the opportunity to create lasting change in the community. What's more, United Way staff help to make running a workplace campaign a fun and team-building experience. Benefits of an employee workplace campaign:
- It energizes a team and instills pride and satisfaction among employees.
- Offers professional development as campaign team members learn project management, leadership and organizational skills.
- It increases employees' community awareness as they learn about critical issues facing our community.
- It provides recognition opportunities for the organization and employees. United Way's Spirit Awards recognize the exceptional commitment, leadership and creativity shown through participation in the annual campaign.
- By allowing employees to pay their pledges through payroll deduction, you empower them to help dozens of community partners for only a handful of dollars per week.
- Team-building as employees work together to reach a company goal. Especially effective if matched by corporate donation.
Four ways your company can get involved:
Most organizations support United Way in one or more of the following ways:
Corporate gift
A gift to United Way shows your employees, stakeholders and public your commitment to our community. Your effort to match employee contributions creates double the impact, and provides an extra incentive for employees to participate.
Employee campaign
Staff and volunteers from United Way will work closely with your team to create a tailored campaign that meets your specific needs. Orientation sessions and a number of tools are available at no cost to your organization to help your campaign succeed.
Leadership Program
With an annual pledge of $1000 or more through payroll deductions, cash or credit card, the Leadership Program enhances the employee campaign.
You can:
- Support a Leadership Giving Program and identify a Leadership Chair in your company.
- Make a personal Leadership gift or increase your current Leadership gift.
- Encourage your Leadership Campaign Chair to attend orientation.
- Host a Leadership presentation so your staff can learn more about the ease of Leadership giving.
- Sponsor an event or underwrite a cost to help us give more. (Sponsorship Brochures available).
Loaned Representative program
Each year, community-minded organizations loan their employees to United Way for 16 weeks. Loaned representatives are an integral part of workplace campaigns and have an opportunity to profile their organizations in the community.
