Another year has whizzed by and the 19th Annual Maxine DeHart – United Way, Ramada Hotel Drive-Thru Breakfast was a great success!
Oct 25: More grand prize winners have come forward in the Maxine DeHart – United Way, Ramada Hotel Drive-Thru Breakfast. They are Anjali Inman ($1,000 travel voucher donated by Mario’s Towing); M.J. Oct 18: Thank you Kelowna! You did it again. In just three hours, we raised close to $46,000 and the donations are still coming in. That is over $15,000 per hour at the 19th Annual Maxine DeHart – United Way, Ramada Hotel Drive-Thru Breakfast. I am extremely thankful to all of you who came and “opened your hearts and your wallets”. It was truly overwhelming. The tremendous amount of support from you, the community, is nothing less than spectacular. Personal thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers, RCMP, traffic personnel, City of Kelowna, media, Ramada Hotel and everyone who helped in the bagging the evening before to make this event a huge success. There will be a special formal “thank you” in the Kelowna Capital News. All monies raised help the agencies of the United Way. There are still several grand prizes that have not been claimed. Oct 11: The RCMP will be present on Enterprise Way to direct traffic into the hotel parking lot. Along with Sun-Rype products in your bags, you will be treated to B.C. Tree Fruit apples, Dairyland yogurt, Kozy Shack pudding, Tim Horton’s Tim-bits, Kellogg’s products, Powerplant bars and Old Dutch Potato Chips. Some of the businesses you will see in the line-up are Rona, TELUS, Coca Cola (Dasani Water), M&M Food Market, Chances, RE/MAX Kelowna, Okanagan Woman Magazine and of course, Tim Horton’s serving their famous coffee. You might win a grand prize of an I-Pad (U-Haul), Pacific Coastal Airlines (return flight for two to Victoria and valet parking at YLW), Orchard Park gift cards, leather chair from Heritage Office Furnishings, Samsung phone or new Fitbit from Tom Harris Cellular and a Samsung tablet from Waste Connections of Canada. Scott Amis and Bruce Telford will be collecting donations, so please be generous. There are also 50 – 2018 GOLFBC Championship day passes for two for the GOLFBC Championship Tournament June 14-17, 2018 at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf and Country Club, a pair of polarized Kaenon ladies sunglasses from Wink i Wear, the latest Keurig from Scotiabank and two tickets to the Italian Club’s New Year’s Eve Gala. There are literally hundreds of gift cards/certificates from Kelowna merchants who have been more than generous this year.
Oct 4: Several new sponsors have recently come on board. Ed Schiller, Geologist and Viticulturist walked into my office to tell me that after 23 years of running his vineyard and making wonderful wine in East Kelowna, he has retired and he and Shirley are moving to the lower mission area. He brought in a beautiful, large, polar bear office desk pen holder, carved from white gypsum by professional carver Jim Currie from Kamloops. This is a wonderful grand prize. Barb Dumbovic of Barb’s Delight Restaurant has donated a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings and dessert for 10 people. Jennifer King of Interstate All Battery Center is donating a vehicle battery and Doug Osness of Culligan Okanagan Water Conditioning will be giving out bottled water while you are waiting in the line-up. Had a nice chat with Ryan McNish, the new general manager of Kelowna Chrysler and the company is on board again this year. Bliss Bakery has donated hundreds of toonies for their Bliss Downtown Bakery location. Restaurants and grocery stores have all been very generous with gift cards for the bags.
Sept 27 – As usual, Tim Horton’s will be on hand to serve you their famous coffee and there will be Tim-bits in all your breakfast bags. Along with all the goodies in your bags, there will be several grand prizes to win. Greg Bickert from Inspire Property management dropped off an Apple I Watch, Series 3, Westjet donated a flight anywhere Westjet flies, Sleep Country donated a huge basket full of bedding goods and Marie Shandalla from Earthly Creations will be donating coupons for hundreds of free flowers. Bell Media have been sponsors for many years with Andy and T. J. from 101.5 EZ ROCK broadcasting live in front of Perkins and B Mack and Karly of SUN FM 99.9 will be live on Enterprise Way. Phil Johnson keeps in touch by phone throughout the morning. Please come out and support us. All monies raised stay right here in our community and not one cent goes into administration for this event.
Sept 20 – Last week, Rob Cividino dropped off 30 boxes filled with goodies for the bags from Paul Randhawa, the owner/operator of Décor Seasons in Orchard Park Mall. They are all piled high in my glass office. B.C.Tree fruits are again providing local apples, Shaun Pierce of Creative Mortgage will provide five – $100.00 Visa gift cards and Kozy Shack pudding is coming all the way from back east. The local Dairy Queens are on board as new sponsors and Michael J. and Big White will again be providing their opening day ski passes. Powerplant Whole Foods, Old Dutch and Canadian Home Builders are all on board. Erwin Egert and the fellows at Carts Plus will again be providing me with a fancy golf cart to run around in all morning. It’s a lifesaver.

Sept 6 – Another year has whizzed by and the 19th Annual Maxine DeHart – United Way, Ramada Hotel Drive-Thru Breakfast is fast approaching on Thursday, Oct. 12 from 6 to 9 a.m. at The Ramada Hotel, 2170 Harvey Avenue. All the new and existing sponsors are geared up with overwhelming enthusiasm. Michelle M. Urbanovitch, an independent GIA graduate gemologist and jewellery appraiser/designer with over 40 years’ experience has again donated a “Have a Heart Bling” piece for this year’s Drive-Thru Breakfast. The designer diamond heart necklace has 32 – VS clarity, F-G color diamonds enhanced by vibrant red enamel that embellishes the heart and bling’s out the 18 karat white gold double stranded chain.
