The United Way of Central & South Okanagan Similkameen supports about 85,000 people in the region through 51 agencies that offer programs and services for families, children and the elderly.

The goal is to raise $1.41 million to continue supporting the work those agencies do.

A breakfast took place Thursday morning at the Coast Capri Hotel, where ‘Rock Stars’ was this year’s theme.

The United Way believes the community can be rock stars through workplace campaigns and personal donations.

Community leaders brought in baked goods to the event for auction, raising $3,100.

Global Okanagan News Anchor Doris Maria Bregolisse’s Slovenian Strudel sold to the highest bidder for $650.
