Workplace Campaign Spotlight – City of Kelowna

The City of Kelowna goes from being one of our top ten Workplace Campaigns to being one of the top five in 2017!

The City of Kelowna realized a record breaking total of $44,980 for their 2017 Workplace Campaign.  The payroll deductions alone increased by 25%.  The overall total came from payroll deductions and departmental events, BBQ’s and contests.

The Airport Team held a travel show in October as a workplace special event that raised $2,900.  The various other departmental draws, contests, BBQ and bake sale workplace special events raised an additional $3794.

YLW Airport Director, Sam Sammadar, donated the proceeds of the YLW Fall Travel Event to United Way CSO.

In addition to the workplace fundraising activities, the City staff donated time at 3 Days of Caring over the summer and fall helping Okanagan Boys and Girls Club, John Howard Society and Clubhouse Farm with various tasks. The Pushor Mitchell United Way Day of Caring matches up local corporate teams with non-profits to complete projects they don’t necessarily have the resources or time to complete.

City of Kelowna YLW Airport employees spent a Day of Caring at Clubhouse Farms.

The Airport staff completed gardening and yard work jobs at the Clubhouse Farm in June.

City of Kelowna staff tackled painting projects at the Central Okanagan John Howard Society offices in November.

We can’t thank the City of Kelowna Committee and Donors enough for all of their hard work on their 2017 United Way Workplace Campaign and Days of Caring contributions.
